Aniridi Sverige (Aniridia Sweden) is a member-based non-profit and non-governmental organisation for persons with the rare eye condition aniridia and other aniridia-related diagnoses, such as WAGR and Gillespie, as well as for family and others interested in aniridia. In Sweden there are about 200 persons with the diagnosis of aniridia. To be part of an organisation is an opportunity to share experiences, and it also provides a stronger and more important voice in order to support research and to work for better conditions for persons with aniridia and aniridia-related diagnoses.
Aniridi Sverige was founded by the aniridic Neven Milivojevic, at first in the form of a network, Nätverket för aniridi i Sverige (the aniridia network in Sweden). In 2010, the network was developed into a formal organisation under the name of Aniridi Sverige.
The organisation has since been the co-founder of the European aniridia federation Aniridia Europe, where we are strongly engaged. We also cooperate with our sister organisations in the Nordic countries, Aniridi Norge (Aniridia Norway), Aniridi Danmark (Aniridia Denmark) and Aniridia Finland. In order to get a stronger voice in the general civic debate, and in order to support research within the rare and eye-related area, we have also become a member of Riksförbundet Sällsynta Diagnoser (Rare Diseases Sweden) and Synskadades Riksförbund (the Swedish association of the Visually Impaired). The more members we have got, the stronger is our voice and our impact, and the more we can influence in order to create better conditions for persons with aniridia. Become a member today, and if you are already a member who wants to be more involved, do not hesitate to contact us. Everybody can contribute.
